The linear combat is more fast paced with volleys doing more damage and infantry formations and positioning being more relevant.Napoleon has generally refined mechanics across the board making the game smoother. If you care about a sweeping campaign and building a global empire, go Empire. If you want to play custom battles with improved mechanics go Napoleon. As far as mods go each has their benefits. Napoleon has WWI stuff. Empire has American civil war stuff, and you . Napoleon introduced much lighter carriages and lavettes as well as guns. He also increased the number of artillerymen and their support in the form of ammunition supply, horses, carriages and carts and so on. This meant that Napoleon's artillery was lighter and much more mobile than most other nations' field artillery at this time. So I was wondering between TWE (with Darthmod) an NTW, which one is better.. So those are your standards. Well the AI in Empire isn't so great, it's a little better in Napoleon. Having played all TW games except Rome 2 onward, i can say that if you are expecting Shogun 2 type AI then Napoleon and Empire will be a bit of a let down.
